EDUCATION

Monica received her degree in Nursing from San Jacinto College in 2002 and has been a Registered Nurse in the Houston metro area since 2003. She began her career at Ben Taub General Hospital in emergency triage and women’s health. She continued her commitment to the community with Harris County Hospital District in Humble as a public health nurse providing community immunizations for women’s preventative and maternal health. Since 2010 she has worked in an in-home setting, providing education and intervention to people of all ages with various acute and chronic illnesses. It was in this setting where wound care and prevention became the focus of her career. She obtained WSOC certification and became experienced in an array of wound care therapies, including topical and enzymatic treatments, negative pressure wound therapy, compression treatments and use of bioengineered tissues, and growth factors. She also specializes in new and established ostomy care. Monica is an active member of the American Nurses Association and the National Association of Hispanic Nurses.

APPROACH TO MEDICINE

Monica strongly believes that optimal health occurs when providers empower their patients to become active in their own care. As healers, educating patients regarding the latest advancements in treatment is key. She is committed to helping patients find their bridge from knowledge to everyday life application to achieve their greatest quality of life.
